Disabling extension update: Edit preferences json-file for Google Chrome on Windows:  C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Preferences on Ubuntu for Chromium:  ${HOME}/.config/chromium/Default/Preferences In this file find the extension preferences block and set  "update_url"  property like  "http://localhost"  for example.
