Gym workout Guide

Workout basics Reps & Sets: A rep (repetition) is the number of times you do it. So, 12 reps would be your repeating the exercise 12 times. A set is the 12 reps, or however many reps you do at one time. e.g. 3 sets of 20 reps push up means, 20 push ups 3 times, rest for sometime in between 20 push ups. Thus total 60 push ups. Gain muscle or tone: If you want to gain muscle, you do a lesser amount of reps with heavier weights. If you just want to tone/endurance, you do more reps with a lighter weight. Generally you do as many reps as it takes to reach failure (you can't do any more). Then you rest and do it again.

Understanding OEM products

O EM generally means "original equipment manufacturer." Sometimes it is referred to as "bulk packed", "white box", "brown box" and "gray market". Almost all PC component and software vendors make two versions of the same product based on a difference in the distribution channels. Retail ("distribution") is the main consumer channel, whilst OEM (to various systems manufacturers) is another. The retail channel typically uses colourful retail boxed products, with installation manuals, software CDs etc. Of course the cost of making the nice-looking packages is passed on to you, the customer. Retail packages are also more voluminous, and therefore cost more to ship. The OEM channel distributes products mainly to system builders and integrators, for example Dell, HP and Sun (the OEMs) and many small ones such as the mom-and-pop shop on the corner and embedded systems designers. These bulk-pack products do not have fancy packagi

Android USB storage mount (Pendrives, External hard drives, Memory cards, etc)

X peria the 2011 Sony Ericsson Xperia range support  USB On-The-Go mode - this means that armed with the right adaptor your phone becomes a USB host, and lets you plug in devices such as mice, keyboards and game controllers. The official way to use this is to buy a  LiveDock Multimedia Station  which the phone sits in, and gives you USB ports for connecting your controllers.   However, the problem is that this isn't intended to be a mobile device - it’s a bit bulky to carry with you, and needs mains power.  Also, USB storage devices aren't actually supported. If your phone is rooted, you can load a USB storage kernel module, and mount the storage device with a small (free) app.   So, here’s what you need: Root your phone.   Get a Micro USB OTG Adaptor. Find a suitable USB memory stick or SD card reader - it won’t work if it draws too much power. Here’s how to check the power usage on Windows. Plug in yo

Chrome exposes user passwords in plain-text without additional verification

If you've enabled Google Chrome's 'Offer to save passwords I enter on the web' feature and have saved some or all of your passwords through it, you should remember to sign-out of your Google account in Chrome, especially if you use the browser on a shared computer. Google's popular Web browser allows you to save your passwords and manage them through a menu in the browser's Settings page. When you click on 'Manage saved passwords' you get a list of your Saved passwords as well as a list of websites where you have instructed the browser to 'never save'. Interestingly, when you click on one of your saved passwords, Google gives you the option to see the password in plain text by clicking on the 'Show' button which is placed along with the listing. It doesn't ask for a confirmation or any additional verification by, say, prompting for your Google account's password.  It's worth pointing out that this 'vulnerability'

GlassUp: Google Glass but Cheaper

Google Glass is still a long way away and the projected price of $1,500 (Rs. 90,000 approx) may be a bit too steep for many. But there is an alternative out there for 1/10th the price, and it doesn't even require you to look sideways to see the messages. Meet GlassUp, a new startup that is looking to raise $150,000 (Rs. 90 lac approx) through a campaign on Indiegogo. GlassUp can show you maps while driving, recipes while cooking and even translate foreign languages. GlassUp is like Google Glass in most ways, except it's a "receive-only" device - this means you won't be able to record videos or capture any information. It will only show info from your Android or iOS smartphone, with which it pairs via Bluetooth. GlassUp is made up of four elements: the frame, the optical system, a touch-pad and electronic circuit. The optical system sends the message from the circuit to the eye of the user, and allows him to see the status towards the centre-bottom of his vi

NearBytes: an NFC alternative for all Smartphones

It has been a few years since Near Field Communication (NFC) was first introduced to the world as the next step in phone data transfers, but the technology has been slow to catch on. It's often incompatible between handsets by different manufacturers and isn't available on all phones. Enter NearBytes, a new Brazilian startup that wants to change the game of mobile data transfers by relying on a technology that is inherent in each phone: sound. It works on all older and new smartphones by transferring bytes via sound, as long as the two devices are in close proximity -- no more than 10 cms apart. Basically, NearBytes encrypts the data you want to send and transmits it as a series of chirps that sound like a cricket. The receiving phone then captures and decrypts these sounds. The company claims that the technology has been tested in noisy environments, including a train station, and works just fine. The speeds are slow -- about 100 kbps -- but hey, at least it works on

Android May Get Banned In India Says Government Read more: Android May Get Banned In India Says Government Kapil Sibbal

According to DNA and PTI, Google’s Android platform, on which many smartphones are built and sold in India, reportedly hosts many adult applications that are considered unsuitable for viewing by children. Amid rising instances of adult content freely available on applications supported by Android phones, Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal sought suggestions from the media to deal with the issue. “I want you people to suggest how can we close it. If we want to close it, you will attack us. I want all the media to come together and tell the minister how to deal with it so that if I do something about it, you don’t attack me,” Sibal told reporters in response to a query on the government’s action to adult applications on Android platform. When contacted, a Google spokesperson said the company builds tools and controls into products that help people manage their online experience. “Google Play developer programme policy does not allow content that contains nudity, graphic sex acts,

Esha Khare invented revolutionary device which can charge a Mobile in just 20 seconds

Waiting hours for a cellphone to charge may become a thing of the past, thanks to an 18-year-old high-school student's invention. She won a $50,000 prize Friday at an international science fair for creating an energy storage device that can be fully juiced in 20 to 30 seconds. The fast-charging device is a so-called supercapacitor, a gizmo that can pack a lot of energy into a tiny space, charges quickly and holds its charge for a long time. What's more, it can last for 10,000 charge-recharge cycles, compared with 1,000 cycles for conventional rechargeable batteries, according to Eesha Khare of Saratoga, Calif. To date, she has used the supercapacitor to power a light-emitting diode, or LED. The invention's future is even brighter. She sees it fitting inside cellphones and the other portable electronic devices that are proliferating in today's world, freeing people and their gadgets for a longer time from reliance on electrical outlets. "It is also fl

LED Screens can damage your eyes, read how

The so-called eco friendly LED lights may cause permanent damage to your eyes, a new research has claimed. The study found that exposure to light-emitting diode (LED) lights can cause irreparable harm to the retina of the human eye. Once the retina cells are destroyed by prolonged and continuous exposure to LED rays, they cannot be replaced and will not regrow, Think-Spain .com reported. Researchers said this is caused by the high levels of radiation in the 'blue band', and is likely to become a global epidemic in the medium term given that computer, mobiles and TV screens, and even traffic and street lights, have been gradually replaced with LED. Experts are calling for the lights to have built-in filters to cut out the blue glare. Dr Celia Sanchez Ramos, investigator at Madrid's Complutense University, said the retina never regenerates itself once it has become damaged. Ramos said LED lights are made up of rainbow longitude waves, and it is the blue part which

How to make a micro-SIM card from Normal SIM

Get good scissors, take the measurements, and just cut the card. Template: Download  The new card could fit into the phone, and it did not complain. So, I got my working Wind SIM card, and again measured it. I was afraid its bigger chip would be too big, but it looked exactly the right size! A couple minutes later I got a home-made micro-SIM card: Put it into the phone, thats it! So it is confirmed: you can actually make a micro-SIM card from a regular SIM without any special tools! You just need a ruler, regular scissors, and a pair of straight hands. via
