Gym workout Guide

Workout basics Reps & Sets: A rep (repetition) is the number of times you do it. So, 12 reps would be your repeating the exercise 12 times. A set is the 12 reps, or however many reps you do at one time. e.g. 3 sets of 20 reps push up means, 20 push ups 3 times, rest for sometime in between 20 push ups. Thus total 60 push ups. Gain muscle or tone: If you want to gain muscle, you do a lesser amount of reps with heavier weights. If you just want to tone/endurance, you do more reps with a lighter weight. Generally you do as many reps as it takes to reach failure (you can't do any more). Then you rest and do it again.
